Society needs a term for “People were rightfully upset, but also it was a really good bit.”
First, you tell me to get a hobby; now it's an “appropriate hobby”.

Tired: Bono doing Beautiful Day as a poem at your funeral Wired: The Edge doing the Numb rap at my funeral
I went to a museum today that had a full on forest gallery in it and I nearly lost my fucking mind. It was one of the best things I have ever seen in my life. IT HAD BIRDS.
Unlike what Minister Jack Chambers claims Ireland has one of the lowest per capita ratio of civil servants among EU member states. And significantly fewer than other high tax member states like Sweden, Finland and Denmark
Haters focusing on Liddle's violence toward his pregnant partner, his galloping racism, or his repeated defences of paedophilia, should remember to mention he was also one of the worst writers to ever do it. A calorie-free hack of the first water. Just absolute dogshit, back to front.
Apropos of nothing I hope Eamonn Dunphy is having a great day.
During COVID I read a book by Dr Ida Milne about the Spanish flu response in Ireland and a lot of it was the same. Closing down public areas, social distancing, washing down buses. It was all really hard and a lot of people still died. It was still probably the best response we had.
it’s pretty obvious that a lot of people remember that COVID lockdowns were unpleasant and from there just extrapolate that they were therefore bad policy

I’ve been asleep for about 16 hours and the word discombobulated doesn’t even come close.
You can’t even listen to honey any more. It’s political correctness gone mad.
Made it to Melbourne only 5 hours later than planned. I think we’re going to an AFL game this afternoon. I have no idea what time it is anymore.
This is so fucking grim but also inevitable because there is a moral panic around ADHD and also generally around prescribing of medications like antidepressants in general.
Channel 4 has announced documentary “The Great ADHD Myth?” It “seeks to determine whether ADHD is a genuine neurodevelopmental disorder, or a social construct.”
A lot of people saying Infantino flew too close to the sun instead of the classic football cliché of 'he's lost the dressing room'. Come on, people, DO BETTER.
Flying out to Australia tomorrow to see my brother and dad offered to give us a lift. We’ve to be in the airport for 7 and we live in D15 so not too far away and I said sure come for 6.30pm. Man just blanked me and said he’d be there at 6.
One of our neighbours appears to be practicing careless whisper on the clarinet.
Apropos to nothing, dead men can't sue you for coming forward about the sexual harassment you experienced from them. #speirghorm
I have no massive take on Nolan other than the Dark Knight and Inception are two of my favourite movies of all time. Not for any deep reason, I just really love them. Don’t think the Odyssey was ever going to capture all the elements of the original material but also people have different opinions.
So glad I will get to experience watching The Odyssey as someone who doesn’t care that it’s a poem or whatever, you won’t catch me caring about its faithfulness, I will simply be whispering to the person next to me “that’s the horse” when the Big Wooden Horse appears
I’m hoping Christopher Nolan writes a scathing review of Wilson’s next translation project, let’s get a real feud going. “Her clumsy and consistent flattening of the gnomic aorist into a bare preterite utterly fails to capture the nuance of the original!”
Is this a good time to mention that in college my History of Translation lecturer (Michael Cronin) told us that one of the first vernacular translations of The Illiad was into Irish, and the translator had to give the main characters dogs because in Gaelic society a free man had a dog
I’m firmly against monopolies except in the case of car parking apps. There should only be one car parking app in the entire country.

Finally. Now Mayo only have to deal with the one curse.
Mayo 4 Sam AND Grand Theft Auto 6 in the same year. There’s a lad in Crossmolina with a PS5, a genie lamp, and one wish left.
Credit to the esteemed GAA pundit Ken Early who was the only one of @secondcaptains.bsky.social who said Mayo would win.
