I work in disability study support. I hate the effect on students + colleagues that 'just asking questions' has after programmes like this. Families who don't want to believe in ADHD, students stuck waiting on diagnoses, doubters feeling emboldened to say "it's a bandwagon". This prog is DANGEROUS.
Only just found out about this For the record, you don't get multiple genetic markers and one of the most effective medications known to science with 'social constructs' Channel 4, this is, in scientific parlance, an absolute fu*king disgrace that will genuinely endanger lives #c4 #ADHD

Microsoft wants to build three massive AI data centres in Leeds. It’ll drain thousands of litres of water from the River Aire and become the city's biggest carbon emitter. We can still stop the council's final sign-off, but we need more voices. Add your name: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/pr...

T H R E A D I am also sick of public historians – including ones with actual training!! – claiming history is 'stuffy', 'inaccessible', etc. Stop it.
it's an old claim frequently repeated (including by academics) that academics live in an Ivory Tower producing scholarship of interest to no one, ignoring the needs/desires of the public; centrists spice this up by adding "leftist" before "academics" and "scholarship," without saying much that's new
My thoughts are with all those affected by the homophobic attack at Berlin Pride yesterday. Know though that whatever is thrown at LGBTQ people, whether we are attacked, vilified or criminalised, we will persist. We have always been here. We will always be here.
In a recent @leftlion.bsky.social column, I wrote about proposals to restrict the right for defendants to choose a jury trial - a right that is a cornerstone of our democracy. Our new leadership should drop these plans.

Absolutely right. What do they think is going to happen? That things will carry on as normal at our "world leading" universities? What will the collapse of the sector do to regional economies? And most importantly To the livelihoods of staff, of precarious employees and the futures of students?
Beyond sick of the inaction and head-in-the-sand from this government on HE.
Peter Donohoe @buxtonfestival.bsky.social this afternoon. That was among the best piano playing I have heard in the last 50 years. The Schumann Fantasy was incredible. The treacherous second movement leaps at speed were thrilling (if you have tried playing these at speed you understand...). Bravo!

This has not been much noticed, but may be a far more important thing than that failure suggests. The co-operative movement and its values have been very important in the history of British socialism. It is a distinctive strand, a model with much to offer.
From Rochdale in 1844 to Downing Street today. For the first time in history, a Labour and Co-operative politician leads the country. Congratulations to Andy Burnham, Britain's first Labour and Co-operative Prime Minister. 🐝
@buxtonfringe.bsky.social Saw @lexiwolfe.bsky.social this afternoon as Mrs Oscar Wilde in a brilliant monologue she both wrote and performed. Outstanding performance of a moving piece.

An honour to participate in the panels remembering Walter Goffart @ #IMC2026, organised by @drdragases.bsky.social, speaking alongside those who shaped my understanding of the field. I responded to recent efforts to revive notions of a shared "Germanic cultural koine" via the post-Roman lawcodes.
