Will Sheff’s latest, Extra Mile, is so good. Takes what made Okkervil River so good, but weds it to a gentler, if no less sardonic, perspective. Last track Ancient Tourist builds to a delirious finale which manages to make the fact we just endlessly repeat patterns of the past sound almost noble.

What’s the description from The Call of Cthulhu… ‘a slushy nastiness as of a cloven sunfish’? Turns out, it’s pretty good description. As demonstrated by Orcas. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

I wrote this a long time ago now, but it’s nice to see it out in the wild. My contribution to the ‘weird London fantasy’ tradition of Machen to Mieville.
Necromancer is an urban fantasy campaign setting in a supernatural London where the hidden world of sorcery—the Demi-Monde—lies just beneath the mundane city. You play necromancers: ordinary people who discovered they can bring things back from the dead. angusabranson.com/2026/07/17/r...

John Blanche’s influence is vast, the touch of his genius visible everywhere you look in modern geek culture. As someone who spent a lot of time in rooms with the same nicotine-stained palate he made such use of, he helped make those places alive, fantastical. Battlegrounds on grandad’s wallpaper.
It’s an interesting choice for Edgar Wright’s Running Man (2025) to cast Glenn Powell as the rugged working class hero - given he looks like white American privilege in a tightly fitted flesh suit.

I am struggling to understand why Breathless isn’t already funded. It’s a very good game, very well made, and incredibly easy to get to the table. So if you haven’t backed it, you should. Be smart like me, and back it.
Alright so, we need to think about the possibility that Breathless may fail to fund. I'd hate this. But it's possible. This was super hard to record and I hope it helps other creators in the space. If you like it, please share the video around because we're living in difficult times.

I love y'all, but if I have to read another "I am inventing game-based learning and/or larping from first principles" essay that refuses to acknowledge the last 25 years of research, I'm going to have to give its author an academic time-out (and a reading list).
