Systems. Design. she/her

I looked at a minutely detailed table of how long to steam potatoes in the Instant Pot and said, "I'm not reading all that; 8 minutes seems good." (for anyone at Papers in Systems who listened to me talk about my experience of how people choose initial configuration options)

Join us in discussing Meadows’ “Leverage Points”? ‘“This is a HUGE NEW SYSTEM people are inventing!” I said to myself. “They haven’t the SLIGHTEST IDEA how this complex structure will behave,” myself said back to me. “It’s almost certainly an example of cranking the system in the wrong direction”’

Here’s the paradox: – Systems regularly face challenges they weren’t designed to handle – Yet we keep using reductionism—treating entities as just sums of parts while ignoring how those parts interact

#PapersInSystems discussions are by the community, for the community. Where community is formed around systems-informed design. Always grateful to the folk who lead the discussions, and who participate in them, deepening the learning for all of us with insights and connections to other work.

Was this students box in which she adorned the exterior with eyes from the book and quotes on seeing and then had cut two eyes into the box which when you looked through revealed inner worlds, a dark one representing start of the book and bright sky for the ending. So cool, I was so touched!

A box painted black with images of eyes from unflattening pasted all over it and two eyes cut through it A look through one of those eyes to see dark images from unflattening inside Another look through an eye in the box, bright blue sky and greenery Some posters about Unflattening

I just learned (belatedly) about Darren Raven's Lecture-Zines: "daily Instagram series... where I share 12 x pages/images/collages/texts, inspired by 20 years of learning and teaching in higher education" — about methods, tools, experiments, etc. I love these....
