The attack on vaccines is one of the great moral evils of our time. Its perpetrators are unsafe to exist in ordered society, and should be in prison for life.

My grandfather, who is 102 and a medical doctor, has told me about the times before polio was cured. Most years, upon returning to school after summer’s break, there would be some children would didn’t make it back to school because of polio.

People — including highly respected and accomplished writers — are not being sufficiently critical of the information environment on this site. A lot of smart folks are getting brain worms here, via the familiar mechanism of circular validation of ideas that feel intuitively or emotionally true.
No. This Cory Doctorow post is awful and borders on actual misinformation. The fact that a widely respected voice like him is spreading this kind of false narrative is, again, a giant blaring alarm about the effect the Bluesky info environment is having on people’s brains.

Former Hill photojournalist here: He’s in the Ohio Clock Corridor, outside the Senate chamber. That is *THE* place where journalists are always allowed, incl. video. It’s where each party’s leaders do their weekly standups. Barring video there is breaking the “rules”. TV Gallery should be pissed.

This is really stupid
I think the argument that it would be better for anyone on any time horizon for Paxton to win is ludicrous, but if that's what you believe then at least stand up for it. Don't do this "I'm just saying don't vote for the Democratic candidate, what heppens is out of my hands" chickenshit nonsense
One of James Telerico or Ken Paxton will be the next senator from Texas. If you're telling people not to support Telerico, you're saying you want Paxton to win. That's it. You cannot select a different, third bespoke person to be senator like buying a tailored suit.
I can't stand this kind of "I'm not saying I want the Republican to win, I'm just saying I want the Democrat to lose" evasive non-sequitur, but it's also a dispositive tell that the person making the argument knows perfectly well that they're advocating an indefensible position

Trump really isn't perceived as being that bad based on what I'm seeming from this site cause there is still absolutely no urgency to stop his party from staying in power. Maybe we need 20 years like Orban got for people to get serious
