CDC hasn't yet ordered their Covid shots. Other families can get the vaccine at a pharmacy today. These 35 million children can't.
The attack on vaccines is one of the great moral evils of our time. Its perpetrators are unsafe to exist in ordered society, and should be in prison for life.
"I'm not going to take away anybody's vaccines.” - Health Secretary Kennedy, November 2024. Covid vaccination cuts a child's risk of hospitalization by about two thirds. Half of American children get their vaccines through the Vaccines for Children Program. www.wsj.com/health/healt...
Seeing this in basically all the generic ballot models, the Dem line is going straight up since labor day and R vote share is somehow even going down
My grandfather, who is 102 and a medical doctor, has told me about the times before polio was cured. Most years, upon returning to school after summer’s break, there would be some children would didn’t make it back to school because of polio.
“On Thursday, Mr. Gorton said that “the success of the polio vaccine was a massive medical fraud” and that widespread vaccination was a “public health disaster.” He received a standing ovation… Mr. Kennedy spoke next, linking arms with the group even as measles cases continue to rise”
It's funny that no one can name a single so-called Nazi in Ukraine's government, or a far right party in parliament (because there aren't any) Yes, there are some shitty Ukrainians. They have so little support they can't get elected to office.
we’re still short on high quality, nonpartisan polls in this race. I wouldn’t overreact to this one
With six weeks until Election Day, a new survey shows Republican state Sen. Christine Drazan edging out Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek by 2%, within the poll’s 4% margin of error.
i don’t want to criminalize speech, people have the freedom to say what they want, but speculating about your own product ending all human life in public should, at the very least, be the kind of thing that you should worry about being fired for
the orange man is bad and he does bad things and you should not have elected him and you should not elect people who support him
the midterms are just one grand exercise in the american electorate finally coming around to the single most accurate political axiom of the past decade: orange man bad
People — including highly respected and accomplished writers — are not being sufficiently critical of the information environment on this site. A lot of smart folks are getting brain worms here, via the familiar mechanism of circular validation of ideas that feel intuitively or emotionally true.
No. This Cory Doctorow post is awful and borders on actual misinformation. The fact that a widely respected voice like him is spreading this kind of false narrative is, again, a giant blaring alarm about the effect the Bluesky info environment is having on people’s brains.
This Cory Doctorow post (which started life as a Blue Sky thread) does an excellent job explaining what the bullshit is in the Hugging Face incident, and that the real poisoned information environment is inside the AI community: https://pluralistic.net/2026/09/12/god-in-the-box/#llms-are-fake
Former Hill photojournalist here: He’s in the Ohio Clock Corridor, outside the Senate chamber. That is *THE* place where journalists are always allowed, incl. video. It’s where each party’s leaders do their weekly standups. Barring video there is breaking the “rules”. TV Gallery should be pissed.
“Reporters were barred from recording video” whaaaaaat
Hinson has to talk about bipartisanship in Iowa…
I say again that performative abstention + the party being abstained from enacting a historic ass whipping is possibly the least optimal coalitional strategy
is that good
what do u think his fav music would be?
me: “that edible ain’t shit” also me, 45 minutes later:
Democrats are the only safe US party for trans rights at present.
wait fr??
I'm like 99% sure McBride has been instrumental in nixing a lot of anti-trans stuff from bills behind the scenes but she isn't maximally offputting 24/7 so LITERALLY A TRAITOR
personally i hope both talarico and abdul el-sayed win because i want to win the senate
the sum total of Sam Alito’s jurisprudence on voting adds up to “You have the right to vote for a Republican and if you aren’t likely to vote for a Republican, then Republicans are allowed to disenfranchise you.”
the truly crazy making part of all of this is that voter fraud EFFECTIVELY DOES NOT EXIST. you have a better chance of finding an actual leprechaun at the end of the rainbow than of finding evidence of voter fraud that influences an election
Genuinely an insane paragraph from Sam Alito. “Voter fraud is real and scary and we have to stop it, so the fact that implementing Trump’s mail ballot rule will disenfranchise millions is legally irrelevant.” Brain melted. A right-wing podcaster in a robe. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
If you think having to vote for someone advocating for the NCAA’s 2015 athlete eligibility policies is intolerable, wait until you find out what FDR and LBJ voters had to live with
The broader point here -- which applies equally to Talarico and El-Sayed -- is that the mechanism we have for deciding these things is primaries. Once you start down the road of individual "dealbreakers," it all falls apart because everybody can have one www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2026/09/you-...
You cannot have bespoke candidates in coalition politics - Lawyers, Guns & Money
Since we are seeing some people on the left of the party suggesting that people not vote for James Talerico, and some people on the center-right of the party suggesting that people not vote for Abdul ...

We saw it this weekend with Nader dead-enders -- nobody is willing to defend the intention or impact of his actual campaign, it's all "he was a smol bean who ran for no reason and could not have mattered." Completely unserious -- own what he actually did or shut up! bsky.app/profile/lemi...
The most common defense of Nader's transparently indefensible campaign is essentially "if multiple factors are responsible for a contingent outcome then none of them [or only the ones I don't like for other reasons] are responsible." This is really stupid
I think the argument that it would be better for anyone on any time horizon for Paxton to win is ludicrous, but if that's what you believe then at least stand up for it. Don't do this "I'm just saying don't vote for the Democratic candidate, what heppens is out of my hands" chickenshit nonsense
One of James Telerico or Ken Paxton will be the next senator from Texas. If you're telling people not to support Telerico, you're saying you want Paxton to win. That's it. You cannot select a different, third bespoke person to be senator like buying a tailored suit.
I can't stand this kind of "I'm not saying I want the Republican to win, I'm just saying I want the Democrat to lose" evasive non-sequitur, but it's also a dispositive tell that the person making the argument knows perfectly well that they're advocating an indefensible position
This site is legitimately unhinged and unserious. Trump really isn't perceived as being that bad based on what I'm seeming from this site cause there is still absolutely no urgency to stop his party from staying in power. Maybe we need 20 years like Orban got for people to get serious
