If you see stories about AI writing/AI scammers in publishing and feel despair, go to a bookstore. Flip open a dozen random novels and read the first paragraph. I did this last week & just marveled at the astonishing creative variety, the unique voices, even in books I might not ever choose myself.

Having read the report, I found it fascinating, worrying and quite scary. As a writer, I'm not 100% convinced I could provide proof of the authorship of my work. I tend to overwrite earlier drafts rather than keep them separate, I often don't have notes and I'm not convinced I could talk /1
