I hate how what I need to do is write books, and yet I keep thinking, "Maybe if I wore increasingly weird glasses and sat in front of my taxidermy with a bubble pipe and did unhinged houseplant reviews I could go viral and sell some books." Doing the work doesn't feel like enough, some days.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. There really needs to be more discussion of how bad the dialogue in The Odyssey is. "Our age of bronze is collapsing" should be a meme on the same level as "Somehow, Palpatine returns"

Damon was fine but the best Odysseus remains Kirk Douglas. The 1954 Italian adaptation benefits from early Hollywood theatrical performers like him. Unlike Damon, who was sad about how clever he was, he captured the sly arrogance and unpredictability thats more true to the original poem.
