I think there are some wild overreactions to Painter pitching today. I don’t really see how this is some disaster for his development or how this is actually a showcase

They have Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Jesus Luzardo, Bryce Harper, and Cristopher Sanchez signed through 2030 at least, they aren't fucking tearing it down. Also the 2014-2020 years were fucking miserable, you don't actually want it. You just want blood from someone.

So here is the thing, I will plug the thing I wrote today (philliesminorthoughts.com/july-2026-ph...), what is all-in because there is trading Gage Wood or Ramon Marquez, but Francisco Renteria is quite literally the highest upside hitter they have had in well over a decade.

You’re locked into this roster and frankly the farm system just isn’t good enough to have worry about “wasting” it. Make the biggest swing you can and hope it shakes things up enough to get something working again.
