I like bikes and riding them.

According to anti-cyclist replies, here's evidence that cars and bikes are equally dangerous: 🚗: They kill ~40000 people in the US annually 🚲: I saw a cyclist run a red light 30 years ago

Today I learned that baby cranes are called "colts" because their legs are so long and they can run around like idiots shortly after hatching. This is delightful, I enjoy knowing this.

photo of two sandhill crane colts that are about 50% leg and 50% neck and head and taking some big steppies.

RIP Charlie “Cunningham called bicycles the “perfect means for ‘right living.’” “They make people healthy and happy, and they free us from the tyranny of cars and the guilt of waste,” he said. “Of course, there’s a time and place for cars, but most of us use them too much.” “ @biketalk.bsky.social

In the late 1970s, he built what is considered the first off-road bicycle with a frame that was aluminum rather than steel, one of his many inventions.

Top 5 performances in THE ODYSSEY 1. Robert Pattinson (extremely funny) 2. Matt Damon 3. Samantha Morton (one of the best female characters Nolan has ever written) 4. Himesh Patel (enjoyed how every single one of his lines had a “Jesus Christ man” subtext) 5. Argus the Dog (good boy)

Here it is, your Bluesky #Bike Content of the Day for Wednesday, 7/29/26. ZERO traffic fatalities in three years. Meanwhile, the rest of Massachusetts is currently experiencing an epidemic of them this summer. We know how to stop traffic deaths - it’s just a matter of will and compassion -

Somerville has lowered speed limits, repainted & shortened crosswalks to reduce the time pedestrians are in the roadway, added new speed humps, fixed sidewalks, expanded its bike-lane network, installed new bus stops/lanes and stepped up ticketing for vision zero. www.governing.com/infrastructu...

The know-nothings need to rally their base for the mid-terms in the face of a failing war, historically low Presidential ratings, and Epstein looming over everything. So, they go to the one thing that still unites them: they’re still pissed about having to wear masks for a few months six years ago.

Here it is, your Bluesky #Bike Content of the Day for Tuesday, 7/28/26. I bike through multiple intersections like this each and every day. I’m very good at it, but, you shouldn’t have to be an expert cyclist or have to keep up with motorized traffic just to go for a bike ride.

Seen some tutorials lately on the best place for a person on a bicycle at a multilane intersection like this, and friends, the actual best place to be is at city hall every day asking WTF we're still telling people on bikes to "just act like cars" rather than building safe infrastructure

aerial view schematic of a three-lane, one-way street approaching an intersection. It appears to be a standard 4-way intersection with no bicycle infrastructure. Each general purpose lane is dedicated (left lane for left turns, center lane for going straight, right lane for right turns). There are dashed lines showing the ideal path for a cyclist to follow to navigate the intersection from each of the three lanes.
From the perspective of immediate harm reduction, the dashed lines are correct (unless the cyclist feels safer on the sidewalk). But it's a bone headed road design and we should be doing much, much better if we don't want to kill people.

I saw an Instagram reel where people had installed a movie theatre-type soda machine in their home and they walked you through the cost which was thousands of dollars and the only two sodas it dispensed was Diet Coke and Diet Doctor Pepper so I think their assets should be seized
