I am going to make a point of saying that I think their colleagues have chosen a fringe position, only endorsed by creeps and wierdos until yesterday, & specifically want to know if they, who are asking for my vote, are also weird about touching children.

Billionaire JK Rowling is to be the subject of a BBC Scotland doc. Rowling spends much of her time and part of her huge wealth funding anti-trans law suits and organisations. You can tell a lot about a person by their yacht. So let's take a look at Rowling's 300ft yacht Samsara.

Samsara, the 89m super yacht belonging to JK Rowling, dwarfs all other boats in the marina.

And another thing, I feel like anyone who has an active real life role in the rearing of children knows that the whole "you don't have to be touched if you don't want to be" is the standard and has been for years

That the Government would knee-jerk themselves back to treating, as policy, children as the property of older family members who would have rights over them which would stand ahead of the rights of the child is a fresh new low in a week of novel depths.

Consent to be touched respects the person who has the right to choose whether they want it. Nobody has a right to physical interactions with children, whether or not the intent of that interaction is physical. The alternative is an unconscionable denial of children's rights to body autonomy.

We can fart around all we like pretending he's some sort of serious politician, but what has actually happened is that his brain has been cooked on X and he will never have a reasonable thought ever again. He is a grave danger to Irish society, and needs to be removed from his post.

Whether it be to do with Palestinian student visas, workers' rights or issues of consent, we need to understand that Jimmy Goebbels is taking almost all his cues from the online/Twitter far-right at this stage. There is no difference between him and them, and he should be treated accordingly.

It makes me deeply uncomfortable that the Minister for Justice has used his Twitter account to create an online pile on of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. It also appears to me a dangerous precedent that this minister, and his dept. have instructed the DRCC to remove content that he disapproved of.

Just FYI my metropolitan liberal elite flat white drinking cold water plunging comrades; if there isn’t a revolution in Ireland, and fast, we are heading for Jim O’Callaghan as the new leader of FF with a potential coalition with SF coming right at us, like a buzzard.

Place the gruntles of the disgruntled against the right of children to *decide if they want to be touched just now* and this isn’t even a debate. The children’s right to bodily autonomy tower over the transient wants of the disgruntled would be hugger. It’s not even a fine balance.

Listening to radio this afternoon it seems the main gripe is from grandparents in their 60s who feel patronized for being specifically targeted (as if they didnt already know and respect their grandkids). Mind boggling.

The position taken by the Minister for Justice and by the Minister for Health expressed to the Dáil and in this statement is that children's bodies are subject to rights of other family members to access to them. If your granddaughter doesn't want a hug, you should not insist on your right to hug.

Out of touch, car-centric victim-blaming nonsense. It's attitudes like this at the top that's the cause of rising road deaths and serious injuries.

High-vis
Speaking at a road safety appeal at garda headquarters in Dublin’s Phoenix Park, the minister also called on pedestrians and cyclists to wear high-visibility clothing, a request also made by Denis Ferry, an assistant garda commissioner.

Asked which pedestrians he was talking about and whether it would include pedestrians in, for example, suburban areas, Ferry said: “All pedestrians.”

Asked whether pedestrians should wear high-vis to walk on, for example, the nearby North Circular Road, Ferry said: “I think you should do everything you can to ensure you’re visible.”

“Even though you’re in an urban setting, quite often what we find is that when you go to cross the road, you assume that the traffic coming towards you can see you. Quite often in an urban setting, with lighting, it’s actually more difficult.

Remember: If your vote didn't matter, billionaires wouldn't be spending their fortunes trying to buy our elections. Stay calm, support good candidates, do whatever you can to get out the vote, and vote as soon as you can. Don't let Big Money win.
