Had a really beautiful time at EMF. The heatwave forced me to write off a lot of the daytime activities, but even hanging out and decorating Brighton Consulate village with beloved friends was a dream, and I had more energy to dance in Nullsector at night. Can't wait for 2028 ❤️ #emfcamp

Had a dreamy summer solstice. Barbecue, cake, sea swimming, and a lie down in the garden. Even gave the cat an extended curfew so she could enjoy the warm night air.

i don't mean to come off as rude but we cannot sustain ourselves on outrage and anger forever. i think it's even more important now to post about other things too. even if it gets less engagement. you never know who will find it cool and interesting.

There's a thread on AskReddit asking, "People who have had to drain their life’s savings on a single event, what happened?" 99% of the answers are depressing American stories about medical bills, 1% is an Australian who found a wombat burrowing under their house.

A wombat undermined our house to build his burrow. Nearly $50k in foundation repairs, plus $200 in chicken wire to keep him out. Now he’s done the same thing to the shed, so $5k to build a new shed on the other side of the property. Here he is, old Fat Bastard himself.. Edit: it’s wild how many people are suggesting we “get rid” him... Apart from it being very much illegal, the idea would just never even cross my mind. It’s his home too. He’s now settled in his new burrow, and our house is wombat-proofed. The worst he does now is dig up my potatoes.

Geneviève is right. Since @eeoor.bsky.social and I gave our talk on burnout at GDC last year, the most common question I get from burned out devs is, “How do I keep my job and recover?” They don’t typically like my answer, but it’s honest and sourced.

Had a chat with a friend who is clearly burnt out but still at work. The problem is that if you wait too long to seek help and take care of yourself your rope can just end up snapping suddenly. It’s a very long road to recovery after this. Friends, if you feel burnt out please seek help 🙏

It's been two months. I suppose it's good that I've had a week or so of feeling okay, but as I dip my toes into some client work, I am feeling particularly sad about having been laid off. The work is cool and interesting, I just miss my old colleagues, and the people I'd usually bounce ideas off.

I'm so grateful for Oblivion saving my bank balance, because there's no way I'm getting a Switch 2 until I run the Thieves Guild and the Brotherhood and complete the main quest and also then do the same again in Skyrim.

I fucking love gadgets. I like new things. I set up a gadget savings account ten years ago to restrict myself on gadget purchases because I am a gadget loving freak. Pretty amazing for the tech industry to make someone like me into a tech dethusiast in a matter of five years.
