Jason Arday was (literally) hounded to death for a matter that ultimately affected one university. Boris Johnson lied to us all at the despatch box, funnelled tax payers money to his mistress & mates & shook off security to party with a KGB spy… yet gets a column in the Daily Mail.

The psychology of this is mad. To dismiss the irritating racket requires the dismissal of the message which then permanently disappears. The government dept which considered the presentation of aversively noisy stimuli to be consistent with information processing of paragraphs needs a psychologist.

wait so once you "dismiss" the alert, it vanishes from your phone? (not visible in notifications or messages, for example.) seems like a design flaw?

I genuinely think that was a necessary alert given the situation (and how many new scorch marks there are every time I go to the park) but Christ trying to silence a terrifying and unfamiliar alarm on four devices at once whilst on the motorway was hideous.

Really? Is that it? If this is all that’s come from COBR, it’s pitifully inadequate. As crisis deepens, it beggars belief that there aren’t eg plans to increase resources for the fire service, support for farmers, max workplace temperature, funded community cool spaces & obvs ban on new fossil fuels
