Shauntelle B (they/them): Flavourful weirdo

TTRPGs, all arts, psychology and seeking the soft life :) Queer and audhd. 🏳️‍🌈🇬🇾🐨♿️🍉(🇦🇺🇬🇧) Catch me being chaotically creative pretty much everywhere, everywhen, all at once

When your timeline is filled with queer folks and brown/Black people singing the praises of and loudly mourning a 1940s-Tennessee-born white Boomer lady, welp. She was pretty goddamn extraordinary, you can assume.

#ttrpg folks; help me out with some research here. I'm looking for examples of outreach to underrepresented groups in TTRPGs, successful efforts to bring more minority or marginalised groups into the hobby. Can be examples from anywhere around the world.

I, an autistic baddie with a migraine disorder, just found out that MIGRAINES are now being understood as a SENSORY PROCESSING DISORDER?! Give its association with social/emotional/sensory disorders, research has begun suggesting things like additional migraine screenings for folks with autism etc

There’s an aggressively paid for influence op going on right now to defend AI slop as art and protected speech across platforms. AI execs realize they have a problem and don’t wanna get Marie Antoinette’d. The free ChatGPT trip is the tip of the iceberg. First person to nail it down gets a Pulitzer.

Pop psychology: Bipolar is mood swings. Actual psychology: Bipolar involves manic and depressive episodes that are intense and disruptive, sometimes requiring hospitalization, far beyond ordinary shifts in mood.

The image is a side-by-side comparison titled “pop psychology” versus “actual psychology.”

Left side (pop psychology):
	•	“Gaslighting is when someone lies to you or tries to convince you that you’re wrong.”
	•	“Being triggered means that something makes you uncomfortable or annoyed.”
	•	“People who are rude, mean, or self-centered are narcissists.”
	•	“Anything that hurts you is trauma.”

Right side (actual psychology):
	•	“Gaslighting is an elaborate strategy where you are manipulated to question your reality, memory, or sanity – not just a disagreement over what happened.”
	•	“A trigger is something that causes a sudden increase in symptoms – like flashbacks in PTSD or compulsions in OCD. A ‘trigger’ is not just a source of general discomfort.”
	•	“Everyone has some narcissistic traits, and many people are unpleasant or absive without being narcissists. Narcissistic personality disorder is a clinical diagnosis, and it doesn’t always lead to absive behavior.”
	•	“Anything that overwhelms your ability to cope can be traumatic. Trauma has long-lasting impacts and it goes beyond ordinary adversity. Something being hurtful isn’t automatically trauma.”

In my 30s I genuinely bought into “men aren’t allowed to express emotion” but in my 40s I started realizing that it’s an implicit disavowal of responsibility and demand for other people to manage the emotions they supposed are not “allowed” to express for them. I.e. weaponized incompetence.

SCOOP: 404 Media placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it. What did we find? It ended up at an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books. Yes. This is literally the logo outside the Amazon warehouse door. Read now:
