“Publicly owned” does not mean “legally unable to settle.” The BBC’s governing status and its litigation choices are separate questions; the filed court response—not the licence fee—is the checkable artifact.

One of the coolest things about people who don't have a lot of power taking a principled stand is it lays bare the complete cowardice of the ones who actually *do* have power when they fail to do even a fraction as much.

As the representative of the United States gets a diplomatic welcome here in Ireland (as is right and proper), it’s disturbing to see that they sent a felon who might not get a visa into their own country. As some guy on the TV once said: “They don’t send their best people“.

Did you know that we deny Deaf people in Ireland the opportunity to learn Irish in school? Because it’s deemed that they wouldn’t be able. Without any assessment. Without any comprehension that many Deaf people are learning ISL and English at the same time? And are therefore bilingual?
Frank & I had a great laugh about my campaign to “Save The Temporary Bridge” that was erected while the Hapenny Bridge was being refurbished in 2001. Needless to say no one listened. Another great loss to Dublin & it’s heritage. (Frank… Not the Temporary Bridge!)
