Queer enby Black nerd, angry SF Giants fan, kitty mom, writer, tenor 1, academic librarian in Norcal. Politics, baseball, FFXIV & other video games, food, choral music, & cats. Way too old for this shit. She/they. (Pride avatar by @hamstrhammy.bsky.social)

Every day you read two headlines, one like "Trump orders U.S. Aircraft Carrier to get him Chik-fil-a" and one like "Hakeem Jeffries: We Must Be Very Cautious in the Way We Consider Speaking About Methods of Bringing About Incremental Change to U.S. Tax Code"

🚨 The archived version of the suppressed Amnesty report into the anti-trans network operating to dismantle human rights in the UK has been "excluded" from the Wayback Machine. JKR is working very hard to scrub its existence from the eyes of the public. Thankfully, I kept screenshots.

A screenshot of the Wayback Machine page when trying to access the suppressed Amnesty report into anti-trans organisation and networks in the UK saying "This URL has been excluded from the Wayback Machine".

fucked up how the dragons are constantly getting their shit kicked in by random societies of jealous freaks. First the omicrons, then the allagans, then those stupid elves. girl leave them alone they are literally nonbinary

Bluesky has "arcs" that makes me lose my faith in people. Why are you "Hear me out"-ing about fascist ghouls like lauren boebert and nancy mace? These people gloat as they lock up kids. I guess they're not targeting white children so it doesn't hit as close. Seriously wtf, cut that shit out.

The Economist coming out in favour of selecting embryos for IQ while dismissing the many extremely good arguments against this - from “it doesn’t work” to “promoting the idea that a flawed metric is a useful indicator of human worth is not going to go well” - is disappointing, to say the least

Progress in embryo screening will raise difficult ethical questions. But there is a big difference between the murderous coercion of early-20th-century eugenics programmes and parents seeking as much knowledge as possible when picking an embryo

2. In his last voice message to me, Jason suggested he could not survive the media abuse. I'll be offering his messages as evidence that journalists drove him to his death If a White academic is accused of exaggerating their CV, it's not a public interest story. If you're Black then God help you.

3. We can all have debates about what the Arday case means. But right now all I see is a dead human being, the people who set out to destroy him and the journalists who attacked him like a pack of wolves, the Guardian among them

My “financial motivations”. Yep, the “financial motivations” of a European journalist. Like dozens of people online, I live and from a country with a healthcare system that is not America’s. It helps to actually have read Mangione’s output, not simply to have guessed what you think the vibes were!

I think it’s genuinely fascinating how many people with financial motivations to be this deeply incurious say it was “absurd connections” like you can say it was wrong to take action if you want but the idea that this was some random guy Luigi picked for no reason is just stupid

The revolution actually 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 be televised but it will be on a platform that you don't subscribe to anymore because everything is so expensive now that you can only afford to have one streaming service at a time so you just swap them around and you recently canceled the one the revolution will be on.

Hayden Panettiere was vocal about the abuse she suffered in Hollywood from a young age. Like so many girls before her, she wasn’t protected. Now she’s gone. This is why we keep demanding the release of the Epstein files. The rich & powerful must be held accountable.

Criterion's K-POP DEMON HUNTERS release is targeting a generation just discovering the wonders of collecting physical media at a time when physical media companies need it most, while also introducing their catalogue to young movie lovers. This is a genius move. Get the kids into Criterion!

While this makes sense, I don't think it fits the evidence - which is that almost no one except for one profoundly stupid 80 year old wants to tear it down - while a dysfunctional political party and a bunch of scammers make it possible for him to do it.

You could argue, correctly I think, that the current willingness to tear down the post war order is rooted in the fact the folks who could tell you why it was built are almost all gone.
