Stagecoach has seen passenger numbers drop by around 25% on the Cambridge Busway since reduced speed limits were imposed during fencing works. Now it plans to cut the frequencies (from every 10 to 15 mins peak and from 20 to 30 mins off peak) on its Busway routes from January 1 2027

A major strategic weakness in the draft Local Plan is that it doesn’t recognise that mass transit is needed to support the economy and the development plans. The Local Plan should set out a vision for a transport network fit for purpose. Pretending buses are enough doesn’t come close to adequate.

NEW BLOGPOST: "Re @cambridgebiocampus.bsky.social - the Transport challenges are significant" cambridgetownowl.com/2026/08/06/d... There are 18 of them listed in the consultants' report for the draft local plan. Are buses and busways enough? (Light rail isn't mentioned 🥶)

I know it's really picky, and probably doesn't really matter (and all that), but BBC has used two images today for their "bus fare cap" coverage, which aren't even UK buses, as both have doors on the wrong side. Shouldn't BBC have UK photos for UK stories on their UK site. Not generic stock photos?

Spent some time going through all the councils including metropolitan boroughs to see where population of councils sat. New unitaries are clearly bigger but many sat around 300 to 400k. Certain regions had 500k+ but purely based on geography, but where it's more polycentric, gov picked more councils

See the region's mayor claims to have been "selling" our region. We're all going to get a cut from that "sale" right, as stakeholders? When the developers come in and spend millions/billions, building on the land in our region, we'll all get some £ in return, because it's been "sold"?

This is the kind of thing that is so frustrating - an ongoing consultation on changes to bus routes around Cambridge - including some that go right past the newly opened Cambridge South. But no joined up plan for how these routes serve the new station (let alone any other routes like the 7).

On bus integration: Cambridge South station itself is right next to the Guided Busway bridge over the railway (red arrow). But the nearest stops for the Busway A service are outside Royal Papworth hospital/AstraZenica - approx 200m away from the station. And that only goes to Trumpington P&R!

Screenshot of an aerial image of the new Cambridge South station and the Biomedical Campus, showing the locations of the two nearest bus stops with purple stars. The image shows they're around 200 metres from the station, and the services from each bus stop - which are relatively limited.

Leon Daniels, "the independent chair of the group that will bring bus services under public control in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough" has appeared at multiple CPCA meetings since report was published. Fascinating insights and answers to Cllrs. Maybe CPCA should have asked these Q's before ...

Fears Cambridgeshire could lose a third of bus services by 2035

Proposed "bus franchising" will mean the combined authority will set routes, timetables and fares.

Appears CPCA have launched a public consultation today on proposed changes to bus routes/bus network - a day before the Transport meeting where councillors are being updated on such proposals. Of course nothing about it other than one of their social media pages on a site I don't even use

@cambstravelall.bsky.social at the CPCA Transport Committee on 17th November 2025 you asked a Q about Tiger pass and specifically how they're promoting it to 16-25, and a follow on Q about how there was no poster on buses. Did you get an answer back? I've seen no posters either, and, they have a...
