Dear Seattle, You occasionally frustrate me immensely, but then you do something that reminds me why I like you. “A property tax levy to fund the Seattle's public library system over the next seven years has passed with overwhelming support - nearly 3 out of 4 voters supported it.” 😍📚

8 AM Wednesday: Significant surface smoke across Western Washington & Oregon, with widespread air quality levels in the “Unhealthy” category for Seattle and Portland, including most of the I-5 corridor. Most areas near Puget Sound are doing better. Please stay safe! #wawx #orwx

Both of my sister’s family’s elder cats passed away earlier this year. While it took a bit longer than I expected, this weekend they adopted a new one. Sharing it here even though Bluesky notoriously doesn’t care much for cats.

A very cute orange tabby kitten reclining on a gray couch, looking eight at the camera. It’s probably planning some trouble.

(Someone is going to ask, so: there are bean bits around the house because my parents brought us some delicious fresh vegetables from their garden and the beans are so good that I'm snacking on them while playing video games and Marcel is stealing the discarded pieces and smacking them around.)

Someone once told me that it's "classist" to advocate for people to have indoor cats because you need to buy them lots of expensive toys. Marcel has been playing with the discarded stem of a fresh green bean for 20 minutes. 🤷‍♀️

One of our cat toys is a beloved stuffed frog that's at least 20 years old. All seven of our charges, including the four that died, have played with it for hours. It's literally part of our family history and I doubt we paid more than 3 dollars for it

Cannot tell you how Weird it was turning my head to watch lights flicker across corn fields just after dark (I wasn't driving) & to see reflecting red lights, two of them, high in the corn. There could be all sorts of explanations, perhaps. But I read & write folklore, so I'll stick with Warning.
