Everyone’s expectations got skewed over the past week but Abdul El-Sayed getting $70 million spent against him in a state he lost a primary by like 20 points eight years ago and still winning last night is probably the most impressive electoral accomplishment of the decade.

☆ Tomorrow is August 6th, the anniversary of Hiroshima. Before we get there, I want you to understand something. Nuclear weapons didn't just change warfare. They changed how ordinary people thought about tomorrow. That's a hard thing to explain unless you lived through it.

Man, if Putin had told Trump exactly what he wanted the US to do to help Iran and Russia and hurt Ukraine, it would have been exactly what Trump did in his war. This is a Russian strategic dream we are watching.

Abdul El-Sayed is outperforming his benchmarks in every county reporting so far, though all are areas where he was expected to run well. Unless Stevens significantly overperforms in the Detroit area, this is set to be an early night.

This administration is searching for cheaper gas and are upset at Exxon Mobile and Chevron for “making too much money.” It looks like Israel and the US bombing Iran is what caused the spike in gas prices, not the gas companies. I wonder how much Russia has made off this war.

It's genuinely a massive problem that the median voter both 1) believes "criminal illegal immigrants" to be an astronomically more serious threat than they actually are, and 2) believes that the legal immigration process is substantially easier than it actually is.

I understand your position, but those are different situations. People straight up both envision a system much milder than exists and cannot imagine a modern world without that imaginary system. By default they have no real grasp of reality on the matter, but are usu. sympathetic to individuals.

I wrote and posted this to Instagram a couple of days ago and it became my most-read poem ever. I’m honored I get to feel big feelings alongside you all. I’m posting it here too and want to use this space more consistently. Hello friends ❤️
