Hotel I’m in seems to be the chosen/conference hotel for a huge group of very cheerful middle-aged/elderly rockers in black band t shirts. They’re having a lovely time and seem v friendly and good fun. I am delighted by them. Hurrah subcultures.

The @channel4news.bsky.social obituary package on Dolly Parton called her “apolitical” which is offensive nonsense. Dolly and the gays. Dolly and child literacy. Dolly and class mobility. Dolly and vaccinations. Those are all political positions, especially in her lifetime in America.

I can't believe the amount of recent history revisionism in the UK. Response to Polish immigration was so severe that it successfully led to Brexit. BREXIT. And tanked British economy. This happened last decade, you can just Google it.
Oh and how could we forget fellow Tory recycled rubbish - Nadhim Zahawi - who claimed £6000 on expenses for heating his stables or another - Lee Anderson - who claimed £220,000 in business expenses for 2020/21 - just after telling parliament he thought food bank users couldn’t budget/cook properly.
If Reform wants to crack down on benefit fraudsters, I hope they don't forget that Suella Braverman claimed £25,000 in second home allowance while living rent free with mum and dad

I remember an older academic colleague warning me off motherhood “every child you have means a book you won’t write”. Which is not the spirit of this tweet at all but I only now recognise what an awful thing it was to say to me.
