Forget recession indicators, far, far more concerning is the omen that signals the continued erosion of our moral spirit: Hardly anyone is driving with their hand out the car window.

This piece is about my character, but it's also about the changes that happen at a table when violence against children is always a possibility. It's about seeing a gun as another member of your family, and what happens when you internalize that your best quality is your aim.

Playing a fifteen year old boy named Godammit made my twenty-session campaign of Apocalypse World smaller, angrier, fiercer, and forced me to be more honest about the place of violence in our game. At the end of the campaign, Godammit looked at a weapon and called it brother.

Been thinking a bunch about how to be a good participant in a freeform storytelling space recently – decided to put some of it into words this morning. Give a read, and let me know what y'all think, but the key idea is: the social contract inverts in LARPs in ways that are *fascinating* to me!

Hey folks! I’ve been playing a lot of LARPs recently – specifically Live Text Roleplay (LTRPs) over Discord. The most recent one was Knights

one of the most interesting parts of people adjusting to seven-part pact is learning the "you're all gms" part of the game isnt a gimmick — the sooner you get out of the "im running this for my players" mindset the better the game flows

people get at me like "oh, let things happen without stating my opposition? that's hiding your head in the sand!" no bro it is not. that would be true of legislation, state action, injustice. hand-waving art that makes art worse is not "letting it continue." it's assisting in its extinction

This is something I'm really excited about when I get to play! I'm a cis man & in interrogating that identity I realized that I have a hard time defining what masculinity even *means* to me, y'know? A game is a really cool invitation to think through it from different angles!

here's a question from the AMA that i've been asked a lot and i wanted to show to other people — i think there's a lot of anxiety about thinking through masculinity in 7PP as a cis man and i hope this answer can help reassure some people

I know the game is supposed to touch on themes of toxic masculinity. What are the things you want/wish a cis-white male would a) experience and b) have to come to gripes with during play? Know it is not your job to teach, but also know that sometimes I can be a little unaware of where the critique is just because of privilege. Hope the question makes sense and doesn't lack tact!

Hi, no need to be apologetic! This is a game about toxic masculinity, but it's not restrictive in that approach. You are a cis white male, which means you've also experienced and thought about toxic masculinity. One of the points of the game is that the expectations of masculinity are difficult for everyone to maintain (you want to be strong, but you're scared you're too weak. you want to be a good dad, but your job pulls you away from your kids, etc.) I'm not interested in legislating a single correct way to engage with the themes of the game. Instead I encourage you to play the character that speaks to you and engage with it on your own terms. As long as you're compassionate to your fellow players, you'll find your own path.

This is fantastic game, and looks like it will be absolutely stunning to hold. There was no world in which I didn't jump at the this second it went live. So thrilled to see I'm surrounded by so many others infected with Wizard Madness, and that this is getting the love it well deserves!
