Robin wakes up for the day around 8 and has his first nap at 9:30, and I’m gonna be honest, I spend that first hour and a half counting the minutes until he goes back to bed so that I too can go back to bed.

I want to be really personal for a second. When I was a teen struggling with self harm, the internet led me to a moderated forum full of people encouraging me to stop. The idea of an algorithm funneling a sad kid into a bubble of despair, to keep engagement numbers up, horrifies me beyond words.

Genuinely, the vast majority of American voters believe that only laziness or criminal intent could be stopping the average immigrant from obtaining US citizenship. The truth is that becoming a US citizen takes years upon years of work and requires navigating a baroque bureaucratic nightmare.

Legal immigration as most Americans conceive of it does not meaningfully exist in the United States. "Just come here the right way" is one of the most pernicious lies in contemporary US politics, accepted across the aisle as the goal of the immigration debate when it's impossible in reality.
the obsession with trans women in sports is, apart from the abject bigotry, a symptom of how we take amateur sports participation way too seriously in this country.
i started this train of thought as a joke but now i do think there's something to the idea that the way to sell the green revolution to the US public is that we're being denied Good Deals on cheap chinese cars and solar panels and there's nothing more unamerican than saying we can't have a good deal

He wrote it for his girlfriend. The lyrics are her telling him to ignore society and take her out to the ballgame. Baseball is for girls.
