Since I got sick with what is possibly the devils lettuce (🥬💩) I’m rewatching the Spider-Man movies and it occurred to me… why the heck has Peter never worked at a bodega?!? It’s such a good job for the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, right?! I mean, I think?!!

Always and forever, the people physically closest to a disaster will be the first responders. Your neighbour is who notices you missing and digs through the rubble to find you. Make connections. Build resilience.

"Local survivors were the first ones to pick up hand tools like axes and even use their bare hands to search for their loved ones, as seen at fallen buildings in La Guaira and Caracas." globalvoices.org/2026/07/06/c...

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

Now more than ever, we should really advocate for clearer and proper preservation/licensing/post-life support of digital ownership. It would make this sting less if consumers had the ability to freely download and archive DRM free versions of titles once the lifespan of a given title ends.

Coming up on a year of being out of a job. Been tirelessly looking for a new one with no results so far, it's bad out there. Wouldn't recommend it.

I've gotten dramatically less cynical as I've aged. I used to *hate* so many things, I think it made me "look smart". But now I am kind of enamored by most art because I always approach it with the stance of "Art existing is a miracle, and the people who make it are incredible for even trying."
