Last night, Kyiv looked like this. Russia targeted the capital with 4 Zircon/Oniks missiles, 24 Iskander-M/S-400 missiles, and 115 strike UAVs including Shahed (mostly jet-powered), Gerbera, and Italmas types, as well as "Parodiya" decoy drones (98 shot down).
The correct answer is a capital levy bc this is a recipe for electing a worse fascist next time.

It seems really clear that by 2028, we're going to have an empty SPR, substantial munitions shortages, greater strategic challenges, a larger national debt and substantially higher bond rates which will massively constrain future administrations.
Who knew ridiculously long deployments and demanding op tempos run a ship and crew into the ground!

It’s wrong on principle, it’s unamerican—we rejected religious tests for office and dual loyalty smears with JFK, Jewish Americans, more—and every minority (especially but not exclusively religious) should recognize it as yet another assertion that only white Christians are real Americans.

Ukraine just systemically erasing sectors of the Russian economy one at a time like it’s my wife picking tomatoes out of our garden—give it two or three days and they’ll be back at it with another fruitful haul.
This is the kind of thing that only happens to people who have no one in their lives who will tell them the truth about their terrible ideas.

Ulysses Grant Dietz is a terrific person. He was chief curator of the Newark Museum, working at that museum his entire career, from 1980 to 2017. His specialty was decorative arts, and he led the staff team that overhauled the reinstallation of galleries after a major renovation.
