It is mad that we have, somehow, allowed net zero - a policy common to all major parties under 5 years ago and supported by a majority of the public - to become a synoym for mad radicalism. It is doubly mad that we've allowed this to happen during the hottest summer on record.

Hear me out. We’ve had lots of multi-Doctor stories and we’ve had a multi-Master story. What about a multi-K9 story?! Different versions of K9 bickering but ultimately working together to save the the cosmos.

There is no such thing as one schooling system. There are myriad systems at play and often in tension.
Dr Dave Hitchcock@davehitchcock.bsky.social · 2d agoI think the idea that the UK's current schooling system is really excellent and that its exams-driven testing model is 'rigorous' is a perfect example of a country eagerly marking its own homework, using criteria it made up for itself.
My position on this is that given current constraints, the system is good but could be improved a little. To improve the system more significantly would take resources that there isn't a political will to reassign.

This is a reasonable response. But Nick is falling into the same trap of talking about this as if there is one system at play. There is no such thing as “the education system”. There are systems within systems at play and often several of these systems are in tension with each other.

Farage - like the Telegraph- doesn't want progress or anything to improve he just wants Britain to sit in a miserable slump in which he can holler constantly about "migrants" and drink pints in slow motion videos with people who pine for WW2.
Obviously, this latest bit from Farage is simultaneously hilarious and infuriating. I am both amused and angered by Farage’s obvious hypocrisy. However, we have a problem in that every time we share his cobblers in frustration we are, never-the-less sharing it. We help to spread the contagion.
