Most rural areas have a ruling class. And they want cheap unfree workers & to pass their fiefdoms on tax-free forever. It ain't rocket science. The fact that we're scared to talk about THAT, ime, is what's costing us a lot of rural voters!
America really is an asylum run by the patients. There are so many dying small towns where no one can read above a third grade level and their votes count five times as much as yours.
Trump doesn’t force people to do bad things. All he did was show people they could get away with being horrible if they really wanted to, and a lot of powerful people decided they didn’t need to pretend anymore. Especially those in influential positions who could push back but did not.

We can all agree on the greed of the former but at least they create actual usable products
we all have our vices and i'm a hypocrite for judging them like this but "bringing back smoking" is an idea periodically floated by the dumbest people alive whose only real belief is edgelordism. i am totally unwilling to hedge on or reconsider this opinion
The main thing in art and entertainment to keep your finger on the pulse of the fans and what they want, their feedback is so important.
The implicit media consensus is that urban voters should not be able to overrule rural voters, but that rural voters should be able to overrule urban voters, an assumption so axiomatic and unquestionable that nobody even understands they're making it.
