I have consistently made the case for Scotch Whisky to be exempt from US tariffs, and President Trump has committed to removing them. Now I’m in Kentucky to build on that progress, strengthen ties with the bourbon industry and back one of Scotland’s most iconic exports.

I cannot think of any other policy area (apart from maybe capital punishment but let’s not go there) - for which there is evidently extremely high, if fickle, popular support - that would get so cavalierly dismissed like this. There is a childish debating tactic here. But it’s not from Streeting.

UK government’s support for oil-heated homes in Scotland falls far short, and has been painfully slow.   We are stepping in to more than double the UK Government's plan.    In an energy-rich nation, nobody should struggle to heat their home and the UK government must do more.
