I'm tired, boss. I'm tired of folks being greedy and ugly and mean. Best buckle up, it's gonna be a rough ride for everyone, even if some of us don't realize it yet.

Devastated to learn of the passing of New Mexico’s own, Dolores Huerta. A friend. A mentor. A real life super hero. Dolores helped organize a movement that changed our country. From farmworkers to working families, women, & communities whose voices were often ignored, she was a voice for change.

I'm pretty sure that only shit-hole countries take in felonious wanna-be dictators after they lose elections they needed to win to maintain their corruption. Everyone else, though? "Papers, please. Or else."

Dolores Huerta, who rose to national prominence as the co-founder of the National Farm Workers Association, and was known for her advocacy for women farmworkers, has died. She was 96. Huerta coined the ¡Sí Se Puede! chant and came to define the farmworker movement.

The labor activist spent over seven decades organizing for better treatment and pay for immigrant workers in California’s Central Valley.

Welp. Voted this morning at the county courthouse. No line at all, in and out in less than 10 minutes. For all the good it will do. Even voting for Dems feels like I'm just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Some experts say the cats have been fed. Speak to the cats themselves, however, and you'll hear a different story. One that may shock you. On our new, six part podcast, we ask the big question: In the war between experts and cats... ...just who can we truly believe?

Joking aside, my intro to philosophy teacher used to say that it's when you believe you uniquely understand the Truth, capital T Truth, that you become capable of atrocities. Thinking about that lately... He meant it about a population but it so very clearly applies to individuals too.

Welp. We, the people (thru various judges) can scream at this f'in administration all we want, but the transgressions won't actually stop until someone has the balls to put them in jail for contempt of court. And I don't see thap happening anytime soon.

WOW: A federal judge ERUPTED at Trump administration lawyers after hundreds of trees were chopped down for Trump's DC golf course project despite repeated warnings to provide advance notice. Our Scott MacFarlane was inside the courtroom for the extraordinary showdown.

You know what? I’m feeling generous today. This is Chapter 13 of Space Opera, justifying why in the world sentience would be determined via an interstellar battle of the bands.

I just finished a re-read of Space Opera by @catvalente.bsky.social and oh my stars that is such a gorgeous disaster ride of a book. Much like the Eurovision competition which inspired it, you don’t so much engage with the text so much as let it happen at you. And Chapter 13 is sublime.

Found the email I sent when I got accidentally added to the faculty listserv of an orthopedic surgery clinic and nobody would remove me so I sent this email to all faculty/staff/med students and they removed me almost immediately

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

The Heritage Apple Corps have found trees in central Oregon that are genetic matches for some of the rare "lost" apple varieties we find in the islands. With more sampling, both here and there, we hope to be able to properly identify these varieties and bring them back into production.

These 130-year-old Central Oregon pioneer apple trees are still bearing fruit

Apple trees planted by Central Oregon's first homesteaders 130 years ago are still producing fruit, and some varieties are so rare that DNA tests came back as unique.
