I'm seeing a lot of versions of this take, but to me Smith is like Wile E. Coyote. She may blow herself up with her own TNT, drop an anvil on herself, or slingshot herself over a cliff, but she'll still be back in next week's episode. www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

Opinion: Alberta’s separatists lost badly. Danielle Smith might have lost even worse

Without a referendum to galvanize it, the secessionist movement might wither. Now, it will take aim at control over the UCP

Glad to see more pro-Canada sentiment from the business community. They appropriately point out the importance of immigrants to the province but no mention of the referendum questions on immigration policy. Should have been explicit IMO. Still acknowledging grievances too. Ugh, that vein runs deep.

Separation could also make it more challenging for Alberta to attract the labour needed to advance investment and capital projects. With 49 per cent of Albertans born outside the province or country, people moving to Alberta have been an important source of labour and tax revenue, bringing with them education funded by taxpayers in other jurisdictions, to the tune of $120 billion - one quarter of Alberta's
GDP.

The Calgary Chamber of Commerce & execs of major Alberta companies put out this open letter today in support of remaining in Canada: "Alberta’s success has not been built in isolation. It depends on our connections to the rest of Canada and the world..."
