Caller to CBC today was a longtime BC NDP voter and essentially hit the nail on the head: "David Eby was a terrific Minister of Housing and Attorney General, but I felt he was a lackluster Premier. This very smart man made a very foolish decision to go to the polls two years early." #bcpoli

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

A Matt Yglesias post, with the text:
Earnest take: I think it's probably not healthy for the practice of democratic self-government that so many people have developed strong rooting interests in elections in countries they don't live in.

A serial rapist was elected twice as President, a fact we don't reckon with nearly enough. Now one of two major political parties has been molded in his image, run for and by violent sexual abusers who hate women.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

“The city release of documents confirmed a police drone flew through the windshield of a Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck in June, cutting the face of a Canadian driver and sending him to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple.” This is a key reason why I’m opposed to these drone 911 programs.

El-Sayed on Trump's cognitive tests: "I went to medical school...In my neurology unit, I would have to give that MoCA exam...The only people that you give a MoCA test to are people who you worry may have cognitive deficits. By definition, if you're taking one of those tests, something's wrong."

Just learned today that Calgary Opera's administrative and rehearsal building is named the Mamdani Opera Centre. Named after local "polarizing" property developer Riaz Mamdani who once survived a daytime shooting in his Rolls Royce in part because a bullet hit a titanium credit card in his pocket.

In the last few weeks i've been bombarded with emails from people who have minor tech support problems. ChatGPT is telling them to email me, writing their emails, and compiling "evidence packets" after convincing them they have stumbled on a major story: www.404media.co/chatgpt-keep...

Because big tech doesn't do customer service, we are being inundated with AI-generated emails begging us for help.

okay upon guidance from my father I found the full statement from the bishop of Milwaukee and it sounds like these guys got very much scammed by arriving to what they thought was a real meeting on policy & getting railroaded into the Oval Office for a staged pic they didn’t grant permission to share

You should read the letters of apology from some of the bishops, who thought they were meeting for policy discussions on a range of issues and didn’t realize it was going to turn into a photo op.
