The "rural" for a lot of "rural" white voters is aesthetic. It's a lifestyle choice, not their livelihood. So you can't win them with policies that help rural areas. Their interest in "rural issues" begins & ends with the view from their porch & property values.

Another odd moment occurred when Musk insisted that work in the future would be "optional" because robots would do everything. Musk said people might still work in the future but compared it to people who grow their own backyard tomatoes. He said they could just go to the store for better tomatoes.

So many good diabetes support/research/advocacy orgs out there. T1 International is my go-to (www.t1international.com), so is DYF (used to be Diabetes Youth Foundation - dyf.org) which saved us when our son was dx’d w T1 years ago. Don’t waste your money on ADA til they get things right.

Great thread, and consistent with my own pessimistic view that a lot of what Trump is doing will be pretty sticky, in that future presidents won't want to unilaterally give up from the prerogatives he has acquired for the office. That said, I also think other states will discipline US overreach.

"But surely things will go back to normal after Trump, right?" Sadly, I doubt it. With the imperial presidency ascendant, foreign leaders must fear that future presidents will prove just as belligerent as Trump. Repairing this reputational damage will take time and deliberate effort.

Just speaking as a scientist, it was silly to blame that one Knicks loss on a “Trump curse.” I mean, it’s one game. Two games is a different story. Curses are real and after tonight the evidence for a Trump curse is rock solid.
