To all the folks frustrated by Google and how they have ruined their own search with genAI slop: I cannot stress enough that there are other search engines out there. They offer little-to-no genAI slop*. Are they AMAZING? No, but they are passable, workable options.

But at the same time, the magic of VR is that when it works it’s like being unstuck in time and deposited into a potential branching future. You can never kill VR because there is absolutely nothing like it for the people for whom it truly matters. [begin highlight] The format has a dedicated Sardaukar army of furries, simmers, Beatsaber players, and perverts. [end highlight] The lengths that they will go to make VR work, modding and tweaking and creating full body tracking, is terrifying and rarely matched. You should see the regular updates that Resonite, what I can only describe as “VRChat but made by furries”, received.

While reviewing the Steam Frame, I replayed all of Half Life: Alyx. It's still a singular game, and on the new hardware it sings. But to play it now is to be confronted with the possibility that nobody will be allowed to make a VR game of that scope ever again. aftermath.site/half-life-al...

I feel it’s crazy that nobody outside of trans people and REALLY invested allies seems to know that the internal trans refugee crisis is one of the biggest internal refugee migrations the United States has ever experienced.

Like, you know there's an internal refugee crisis facing the US with trans people fleeing their home states, right? Can you understand why trans people might be more than a little on edge, stressed, angry because of the way we're treated? Perhaps extend a little understanding and empathy.

On social media I'm seeing skater dudes touch a kiss each other for a fun gag, looksmaxers defending trans people, and lots of leftist comedy. Outside I'm seeing WAY more punk and goth kids than I used to. I dunno. It feels like the pendulum has been swinging back our direction. Fingers crossed.
