I think stuff like this is important to remember. Change doesn't begin at the top. In the US, states enact progressive laws piecemeal, and feds (hopefully) catch up. Eventually. Which is why the fact we're seeing DSA mayors and state reps is a big deal. A BIG deal.

I spent about three months one summer travelling on horseback, without ready access to running water. I was 20-something and still punk af so it was fine. But when the day comes we turn our taps on and nothing comes out, all hell will break loose.

I don't expect this to last, of course, but it's been at number one in the Blackwell's bestseller chart since Sunday. Not bad for a collection of short stories published on a shoestring budget via a tiny Cornwall-based publisher with no warehouse. Thank you, #booksky for making this happen.
