Can we get a moment of silence for Fiasco's expression here (the baby is cuddling with me on the office sofa, there is LOTS of room for a Fiasco, but he is just glaring at me from his bed a few feet away instead of joining us) 😂

I think stuff like this is important to remember. Change doesn't begin at the top. In the US, states enact progressive laws piecemeal, and feds (hopefully) catch up. Eventually. Which is why the fact we're seeing DSA mayors and state reps is a big deal. A BIG deal.

I don't expect this to last, of course, but it's been at number one in the Blackwell's bestseller chart since Sunday. Not bad for a collection of short stories published on a shoestring budget via a tiny Cornwall-based publisher with no warehouse. Thank you, #booksky for making this happen.
This is the news I've been waiting for: Blackwell's will be stocking my new short story collection, which means readers outside the UK can pre-order it for September 15th with FREE INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY... Oh yes, and they have SIGNED copies too! blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/pro...

Trump: “A friend of mine is a very obese person. I said, you’re an extremely obese person. He’s begging me not to mention his name because I’ll destroy his reputation. He had some fat drugs. I said: it’s not working, you look like shit.” Courtesy of @acyn.bsky.social
For the first time in four decades, VIA Rail passenger cars will be built in Canada. We’re going to build more than 300 of them right here at home — supporting nearly 700 jobs in Ontario and Québec. Read more: www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/news...

Huh. Do you suppose “harping on” relates back to the poetic courts in Ireland, where ollamhs (bardic poets) “prosecuted” the king with satire?
