Imagine seeing 106 of these beauties so far north!! (my pic from Madeira 2018). The old Estaca record was 10, the new one 10x as many! Also occurence there a fairly recent phenomenon, last few years. Cornwall watch out in July early August!

A wonderful evening at Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve as a birthday treat to see our first ever beavers We watched three beavers for some time, two juveniles and a baby, going about their business and noisily gnawing on trees.

Despite rapidly reducing water levels at Stiffkey Puddle (nee Fen) my persistence surprisingly paid off this morning when a very unexpected wader resolved into a lovely adult Pectoral Sandpiper. Not sure if this or yesterday’s juvenile Goosander was most surprising? #norfolkbirding

The Hudsonian Godwit showed nicely on the Stour estuary early this morning, other Suffolk highlights have been a Spoonbill at Hen reedbeds on Sunday and a couple of Caspian Gulls at Southwold Hbr. Lesser Weever Fish was a (safely returned) new one for the mini species list off Southwold Pier!
Still going strong! The Grand Old Gull of Amble ~ PKCS was first seen on Arnold's Marsh way back in 2011. Great to read that it's back again on the fabulous Northumberland coast 👍

Successful evening out with Thetford Forest Ringing Group on long-term Nightjar project. Nest found and adults caught. We retrieved a gps tag off the female that had been on a couple of weeks. The male was a retrap, ringed August 2023 as a 2cy bird, first capture since then. Top data! #ornithology

Not a bad shopping day today. Started with a sum plum Black throated Diver, still scarce in Shetland, 2 Risso’s Dolphins then onto Lerwick where the Queen Eider was showing distantly then whilst stuffing my face and on the phone to Tracy I found an eclipse drake Ring necked Duck. #birdingshetland
