This law firm was just awarded a $150 million/year contract to lead representation of unaccompanied minors through immigration proceedings. Seems really bad!

At the time of his nomination, Wright was the fourth economist to be an FTC commissioner. 2] Wright was a professor of law at George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School between 2004 and 2023, and was the exer tive director of its Global Antitrust Institute (GAI), (31[4] In 2023, Wright resigned from George Mason following eight allegations of sexual misconduct from former students, and a determination by George Mason University that he violated university policies relating to consensual relationships and professional ethics that constituted grounds for termination.

In addition to having no experience in immigration, their website shows Ilya Shapiro (!) and disgraced former law prof Joshua Wright (!) as Senior Counsel. I don't think this massive contract was awarded to give immigrant children effective, zealous advocacy. burkegroup.law/our-team/

wow, i was not expecting to be blocked by @kenjennings.bsky.social over this. We’ve previously interacted in friendly ways, so i reached out in good faith & not trying to drag him. I was giving the benefit of the doubt that maybe his transphobic behavior was unintended. really disappointing.
