You're looking at a 200 year-old wisteria vine at Byakugou-ji Temple in Tamba, Hyogo, Japan. The delicate pink/purple blossoms create an otherworldly place where magic can happen. But here's an interesting fact: wisteria are in the legume family (Fabaceae). This is a magic beanstalk.

I would just add: realistically, in most cases our task is not to de-program those for whom cruelty no longer feels like cruelty; rather, it is to minimize the impact they have on others until they pass away—and to ensure that the newer generations never see that behavior as the norm.

Once someone sincerely believes another group represents danger or contamination or decline, cruelty stops feeling like cruelty and starts to feel like self-defense. And that’s fucking murder to deprogram.
