Nicht ein Ceuta-Flüchtling hat es nach Europa geschafft und die Flüchtlingszahlen sind (auch durch das brutale EU-Grenzregime) generell enorm gesunken. Die Angst-Kampagne der Springer-Presse erfüllt nur einen Zweck: Selbst noch Menschenrechte zur Disposition stellen und der AfD das Feld bereiten.

A good reminder that it is happening to nearly all of us. I remember one time being embarrassed when corrected by a mate after repeating some falsehood I read online but didn’t check because it sounded plausible. Who knows how many times I was wrong without the correction.

This isn’t just happening to the wacky tin-foil-hat folks, clearly. In some ways it’s happening to all of us, dozens or hundreds of times a day, on our social media feeds. Algorithms serve us the things they know we want to hear, shaping our perceptions of everything.

Just finished this one, 'The Joy of X' by Steven Strogatz (2012). It's thought provoking and it explores some tricky concepts but above all, for a book on a traditionally maligned subject, it's readable for those of us who aren't mathematicians #booksky #books #maths 📚

Thanks to a new job I now work with someone who believes far right videos even when it takes me 5 seconds to point out that's not England, that's not a far right show of strength it's a Shakira concert, and people don't have six fingers. I don't know what to do to help him.
