Yes! People who pride themselves on being shameless norm-breakers often depend the most on norms… or, on all the other people nearby being too stunned or norm-compliant to resist. You have to be as defiant and brazen as they are, but in defense of decency. You can be pleasant but you don’t budge.

Learning recently I’m much more fond of government agencies than many folks in the US (many serve communities and employ my colleagues!) But I’m especially fond of the USPS. I can send and receive little gifts across the vast country! I chat with the mailperson! Stamps are so cool!
