This seems right on the money. The maximalist texturing of the world constrasted with the doll-like skin surfaces is meant to evoke the specific feeling of a puppet diorama. The flatness of Zelda's nose is maybe the biggest giveaway. (although I think "rococo" is pronounced 'ruh·kow·kow')

Ah, that definitely helps explain the art direction. Skyward Sword and BotW were inspired by impressionism and Romanticism after all @sam-animeherald.northsky.social

Happy Star Trek Day! Here's to the next 60 years. Star Trek has influenced my life in innumerable positive ways, including very literally the lesson I taught earlier this afternoon to an auditorium full of students. I gave out 19 3d-printed Trek ships to students who answered questions today.

Hidemaro Fujibayashi has had an incredible career. He was a fan of Zelda and got to direct the Oracle games on GBC despite working at Capcom. He directed Minish Cap, Skyward Sword, even Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Now he's a producer on the Ocarina remake. He's only 53!!

Suddenly all those "people unsure if Mamdani should attend 9/11 ceremony" articles comes into focus. It's a blatant racist attack to distract from the fact that they knowingly covered up health hazards because money wasn't flowing.

Saw a fairly prominent YouTuber say they didn't understand the point of such a faithful Ocarina of Time remake when we "just" got the 3DS version. Brother, that was 15 years ago. The platform has been discontinued. You're a dinosaur

Top Oregon elected officials on Tuesday urged Oregonians to use ballot drop boxes, not mailboxes, to return ballots in November as newly released data showed thousands of Oregonians missed having their May primary votes counted because of postal delays. buff.ly/eOCCvek

Oregon officials urge use of ballot boxes while defending mail voting • Oregon Capital Chronicle

More Oregonians had their ballots rejected for late postmarks during the May primary than in any prior election.

In August there were "federal observers" at the polls... They're planning to send ICE out on our streets during the November election... So we have a responsibility to make sure that this election result is TOO BIG TO RIG.

I'm most interested in Ocarina of Time's apparent fascination with a more logically constructed world. A floating platform is replaced with a crumbling bridge. A ladder suspended by nothing is held in place by a stone mechanism. I'm curious to see if the whole world abides by this design.

The more I see the new Ocarina of Time remake in motion, the more I fuck with it. I still think Hyrule Field looks really empty (Where are birds, or goats?) and I still think Link's clothes are a little *too* detailed. But I'm eager to see more.

Not for nothing, but I think my favorite part of the Zelda Direct was when, in an increasing age of physical games production being treated as burdensome, Nintendo said hey here’s our a physical edition of our big holiday game with a special fancy first print cover

My life is stressful right now due to some personal events, so I'm honestly having a hard time. I'm sure there's heavy discourse today about Ocarina of Time. I don't have the mental power to get involved in it. But seeing the reveal on my lunch break made me smile. So, that's where I'm at on it.👍

This is not a call out by any means, but a counter argument: I don't think the remake is for us. Aonuma's little play through during the direct showing things like "Link can play an Ocarina" and "using the slingshot to fire a rock at a stone eye" betray the target audience.

I'm sorry to sound so bitter and shitty about this but I'm just like. I'm despondent. This remake looks SO expensive. I can't imagine all the money, hours, blood, sweat and tears that went into it. Nintendo could have taken all those resources and unparalleled artistry and made a new game instead.
