Again, the unifying 🧵 about Trump’s foreign policy is not realism or neo-royalism. It’s the extension of sexual assault/predation/partner abuse to IR. If he thinks you’re his macho pal, he’ll respect you/your sovereignty. If not, he’ll try to violate you & humiliate you. Epstein-ism, if you like.

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.

Trump on NATO: "The problem with NATO is that we'll be there for them 100% but I'm not sure that they'd be there for us, if we gave them the call". We did get the call on 9/11. 26 NATO members sent troops to defend the US. Hundreds died doing so. It was the only time Article 5 has been activated.

Looks like the EU-US trade deal is now dead, with all three major groups in the EU Parliament calling at least for suspension. The downward spiral has already begun.
The answer is that he is not focused on a Russian threat at all. It is just a useful cover story to take Greenland and leave some kind of territorial legacy behind.

I research dictatorships for a living and have spend a non-negligible amount of time reading the words of madmen like Gaddafi, Hitler, and the Kims of North Korea. Even to me this is fucking bunkers.
