I know the world loved her, but I cannot express how deeply saddening the loss of Dolly Parton is for Appalachian people. We have so few role models to look up to, and she towered above the rest. I’m especially sorry for the people of East Tennessee.
I know all y’all loved Dolly, but I don’t think I can fully express how important she was to us here in East Tennessee. She will always be an icon for showing us how to embrace our better selves & be good to each other, representing our region with pride & grace, and modeling relentless generosity.
