This is why I often cite a campaign slogan of Gaius Gracchus - yes, that Socialist Working-Class Man Of the People Gaius Gracchus - which was "Unlike some other candidates, I don't rape other men's enslaved boys!" Which, um, thanks Gaius, but that low, low bar still leaves a lot of questions!

Next time someone tries to tell you that Roman slavery was different or better than other forms of slavery, tell them to listen to last week’s episode of @thisguysucked.com and/or buy Emma’s book.

Novelists don't rewrite their debut work a decade later. Artists don't repaint their first canvases a decade later. So why do rock bands and pop stars insist on remixing all their debut singles? Even worse, why do these crap tracks so effectively pollute streaming services?

If you see the difference between RW and LW as a matter of values and cognitive style first, that then becomes flywheels of ideology and behavior, you can see how it bubbles up regardless of purported ideology. 1/

a man in a jacket and t-shirt with a hammer and sickle pin, smiling at the camera (huey lewis). Text says "I'm takin' what they're givin' 'cause I'm workin' for a livin'"

This is all good, but behavioral change *always* needs to be examined in terms of functional contextualism, and the first part that is - is the problem even with the individual, or society? i.e. how much do we go after individual change when change upstream will remove the issue? 1/

In Tucker’s recent interview with his favorite Holocaust-denying “historian,” TC is shocked to learn that the Bolsheviks erected a statue to Judas in Moscow. The only problem is, there is no evidence that this ever happened. But who cares about evidence when you have a fascist narrative to push?

Imagine having concierge health care services. Pay a $50k yearly retainer and they just take care of everything for you. Find all the best doctors and guide you through everything, manage it all. The rest of us are left sifting through coffee-stained papers, passwords and and representatives.

Still thinking about centrists taking an approach to free speech, debate, and 'the life of the mind', that relies on many tenets of liberalism but one, egalitarianism. And how this is not just a value but a principal that unlocks new thought and *importantly* new epistemic truth authorities. 1/

Whenever I listen to Touch of Grey, despite my interest in it as a pop banger, it always kinda feels like a sad coda for lonely confused and burnt out hippies. We lost so many to MAHA and silicon valley, onanistic white appropriation circles and right wing rigidity. There was something there, but.

I'm still tripping out that in the Carbiniferous animals had to lay un-shelled eggs in the water until amniotes evolved, which could lay shelled eggs further out into dry land - caves, burrows, trees, etc. They could essentially live anywhere as long as the parent had access to drinking water. 1/

Like I started playing the piano ~a month ago, & I can do two different things with each of my hands because I can play the drums, and I can play chords because I used to play the guitar (before I broke my left hand twice playing water polo). I still suck but I suck WAY less than I expected to.

We have been lucky—2 plumbers have worked with us over the years. One writes plays, an improv comic, really well read, and a great plumber. The other, with whom we work now, is eccentric & religious. He is studying biblical Greek to see if the Bible translations he is reading are accurate.
