Writer, reader, punk | MFA UBC | He/him Novel: Temporary Palaces (House of Anansi, out now!) Non-fiction: Ghost Pine: All Stories True (Invisible)

I devoured this book. It was exactly what I've wanted a book about music- playing and experiencing it- to be. Jeff Miller wrote a perfect book about music and subcultures and the people who create them. I immediately started re-reading it. I can't recommend this highly enough.

A book "Temporary Palaces" by Jeff Miller.
The cover has a run down house that is heavily grafittied and boarded up.

Come for the heart-warming craft essay about how the zine community made me a novelist, stay for the photo of me as a greasy teen zinester! Thanks so much to Lit Hub which I'm told has some zinemakers in it's ranks :) It's a true honour to be published here! @houseofanansi.bsky.social #zines

“Possibly the greatest lesson I got from the zine is that writing is about community.” How zines taught @theghostpine.bsky.social to be a novelist.

Love this public service announcement on a neighborhood bulletin board (looks like it got wet in the rain, that's why it's a bit blurry) "NO ONE CAN TAKE SELF PUBLISHING AWAY FROM YOU. NO ALGORITHMS OR OLIGARCHS CAN CENSOR YOU. NO GATEKEEPERS CAN TELL YOU WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY IS NOT IMPORTANT..."🌹🥀
