This is incredible, a great example of how to foster a creative space and highlight upcoming writers while growing a game's impact and longevity.

did end-of-quarter royalty payments this morning, and I'm proud to confirm that our bestseller City of Six Moons has surpassed over 6,000 copies sold. I decided to mark the occasion with a little data crunching - here's a look at the top 15 games from a small POD publisher.

Top 15 titles, correlated with player count and duration. City of Six Moons (1200 min, solo), Table Battles (20 min, 2P), Agricola (60 min, solo), Wars of Marcus Aurelius (90 min, solo, OOP), Charlemagne (180 min, solo), An Infamous Traffic (60 min, multi, OOP), Supply Lines of American Revolution (180 min, 2P), Field of the Cloth of Gold (30 min, 2P), Stilicho (90 min, solo), Horse & Musket (60 min, 2P), NATO Air Commander (90 min, solo), This Guilty Land (60 min, 2P), Meltwater (60 min, 2P), Nicaea (90 min, multi)

For reference, there's ~740 Mothership modules in total that I've been able to track in this collection (including those not on itch, in the description):

i posted an epiphany i had about why i hate AI so much on fedi and i wanna post it here but it won't fit and i don't wanna cut it down to size so fuckit i'm just posting a screenshot

OH. right! i get it now!

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

You are not required to engage in debate with clowns. Laugh at their dumb shoes and watch them try to get 16 of them into a tiny car. No, sorry, equating tech-bros with clowns is an offensive comparison to the clowns. Treat tech-bros like toddlers who are proud they piss themselves.

I'd think if Yud was wrong about AI being a potential threat, *someone* would be able to construct an actually decent counterargument against him This "what a weirdo", "haha so dumb" shit would obvs exist either way, but there would *also* be, like, somebody who could formulate a coherent rebuttal

So, I submitted by entry to the #FolkloreJam today 💛 It's a solo one-page TTRPG about childhood, ghosts, confronting mortality, & finding comfort in friendship. This folklore is personal & local, from childhood memories of playing in my church's graveyard & finding old graves of kids my own age 👻

The Children of Massey Woods by Alex's Gaming Corner

A one-page solo game of childhood, of ghosts, of confronting mortality, and of finding comfort in friendship.

True not just in publishing/writing. Look at how this new Meta Muse basically jumps into the user's shit, mixes it around, gets it everywhere. Shares their address. Lies to their contacts. Sells their stuff at a low price. Do not let the vampire in. Hang garlic. Sharpen stakes.

Oisín McGann@oisinmcgann.bsky.social · yesterday

We should treat genAI in publishing the way you’d treat a vampire trying to enter your home. You never give it permission to enter. It doesn’t matter if it‘s polite or makes generous offers or it’s *only* going to take the ones *you* don’t care about. It’s here for your blood. Don’t let it in.

I'm gonna say something that might get me canceled. Trans people have an 18% unemployment rate, 4x the national average. We get paid 60% of what cis people get. The Federal government/MOST state governments strip our rights/hunt us. The only cis people that can commiserate with us are immigrants.

Mika Fae Queen of Night 🏳️‍⚧️@msmaxwellmusic.bsky.social · 6mo ago

I wish cis people knew how soul killing it is be constantly told "it'll be fine" after listing a dozen reasons it's actually existentially dangerous to do a thing because the Federal and State governments want me and people like me dead or a prison sex slave. Y'all take your rights for granted.

on why we keep making solo games: because most of the world doesn't have a table with four other people at it. because the deck is patient. the notebook is patient. the game will wait as long as you need. we don't make games to fill a Saturday night. we make games to fill a Tuesday.

Well, I for one am an economist who supports rent controls! Here’s why 🧵: Markets only work well if: -buyers & sellers have roughly equal power -producers respond to price signals & expand supply in response to scarcity -buyers can walk away if prices get too high

Saul Staniforth@saulstaniforth.bsky.social · last wk.

Ash Sarkar: "The one thing the govt could do to improve the lives of young people is introduce some rent controls" Govt minister Jonathan Reynolds: "No economist supports rent controls" There you have it. Are you a young person trapped paying exorbitant rent? The Labour govt says f**k you.
