Some Lula supporters apparently shouted his name out their window when it was announced he won and a cop pointed his gun at him and they took what is possibly the greatest image of a cop ever taken, like genuinely this would go hard as a cover for a Rage album its so poetic.

Cop on the street at night pointing a gun upwards across the street to the second floor of a building at the camera-holder, the streetlight illuminates him casting his shadow in the appearance of a Sieg Heil.

this was my local PBS station, KTEH. every sunday was Science Fiction Night, with red dwarf, doctor who, blake's 7 and the like, and then it evolved to include anime like Robotech, Please Save My Earth, Lum, Serial Experiments Lain, and Eva. it is hard to overstate how important this was to my youth

People say this was forward thinking, which it was, but anime's own popularity is the reason this didn't last. As I recall, licensing stuff like Eva became so expensive they simply couldn't do it anymore. This really was almost entirely community funded.
