Lives in Ireland, likes jazz, cycling and software development. Opinions my own only and don't reflect anyone I work for, know, am related to, make eye contact with.

The cost of public & active transport infrastructure gets scrutinised within an inch of its life while motor vehicle infrastructure spending at whatever cost is treated as an unarguable necessity, if not ignored entirely. As here, motor vehicle infrastructure is overwhelmingly a terrible investment.

"Even when your car is parked it can kill". The language was stronger back in the day but it would have been better if UK (and the lagging Irish) authorities had re-engineered roads so that these 'bombs' cannot be planted. Likewise we can design out speeding; yes there is resistance but it passes.
