On the last day of Pride Month, happy Trans Pride, now and forever and ever and ever, Amen.
this is a genuinely unsettling thing to see an NYT writer say. it's essentially an uncontested fact that in the social media era, large majorities of people don't read past the headline.
also, with love, I think people ascribe too much power to headlines. I see this discourse that seems to assume that, if the headline was different, it would somehow be a KO to make the subject of the story act different? but when subjects call to complain about a story, it's almost always a detail.
Notice that they suddenly discover that active voice when it's a cop that's murdered. If a cop had deliberately run over a civilian it would be all "A traffic-related fatality occurred when a man was struck by a vehicle which contained a police officer."
a lot of people think you need a lot of money to buy clothes. now you're right. ok. my bad.

AOC: It's really because Republicans— they’re very thin skinned and they're very sensitive, and their feelings are very easily hurt. And so they have to vote on censure resolutions.
without section 230, you could have a world where bluesky is liable for me calling this man a clueless, tech illiterate, fascist enabling motherfucker
It’s time to repeal Section 230. We must be able to take social media companies to court for addicting kids and enabling drug trafficking on their platforms.
The same way we enforce everything else. If you think it’s hopeless, go comply in advance off to the side and let the rest of us fight for democracy.
congratulations to Karl Marx and his ideas for limiting Kansas City to 49 total rushing yards over four quarters of dialectical exchange

really wish you could report an account for only posting horrific content. the account at issue below has only posted animal cruelty; no one should have to click into that stuff to appropriately report it. seems like a quick win to expand the scope of “posts unwanted content” at the account level?
Someone made a comment on one of my posts with a photo of animal cruelty. I reported it to the moderation & pushed something to hide it. I should have blocked it but I couldn’t after it hid. I am very upset by it. It was a horrible gruesome image.
OK I'm on this Infowars website now, and is this is what The Onion calls comedy? This guy fucking sucks. Haven't laughed once.
