Unapologetically pro democracy. Litigation support specialist (art & court). Formerly in DC, now in the Willamette Valley just outside of Albany Oregon. PNW! Life is good here. Fella supporting Ukraine. 360 video. Burnt Logo.

All these failed Washington, D.C., projects that have cost taxpayers millions, if not billions because of legal shortcuts and shoddy work really shine a light on what kind of “real estate king” Donald Trump was in NY. We already knew he was a nightmare. This is more confirmation

Usually, when I block someone, I don’t have to think about them again. But I got a nice apology email today that Mail summarized: He apologizes for his rude behavior on Bluesky, where he criticized your post about balcony solar panels. He acknowledges he was wrong and the behavior was unwarranted.

Not sure if everyone appreciates the difference. Rooftop solar hardwires into your main panel via a dedicated breaker, so it requires a permit, an installer, an electrician, and a utility agreement. Balcony solar just plugs into a wall outlet, sharing an existing circuit with no permits or rewiring.

Did you know that The Map Center is the only map store in the country that is directly above a brewery? Tomorrow at 6:30 at Discipline Brewing, Robert Isenberg talks about his new book about bike-packing Canada for Lonely Planet. So if you like beer, bikes, travel or beer, you should join us.

Just so everyone knows, this is a tried-and-true mainstream media tactic. For progressives/leftist candidates, every election is a “crucial test” and any loss would serve as proof to the media that the latest left-side moment is at its end. Any win, though, just means it’s time to find a new test.

Michigan will provide another crucial test of whether progressives can not only keep up their winning streak in safe-blue seats but also break through in battlegrounds crucial for control of Congress. The stakes for the Democratic Party are huge.

#ResistanceRoots Major General Smedley Butler was born on this day in 1881 in West Chester, Pa. One of the most decorated figures in U.S. Marine Corps history, he transformed into an anti-war activist and whistleblower. He exposed a plot by wealthy men to overthrow FDR and install a dictator. /1

Brigadier General Smedley Butler in uniform, ca. 1921-1929. Butler’s transformation from a decorated commander into an anti-war activist was not caused by a sudden epiphany. His final year in the military soured his view of institutional power, and his retirement freed him from military censorship. While active in the Marine Corps, he was bound by military discipline and could not publicly criticize the government. Free from the threat of a court-martial, he began using his retirement lectures to unpack the moral rot he had witnessed throughout his 34-year career.

I’d be very grateful if you could help me get the word out to people who might be interested in reading Democracy Americana in German. I am trying hard to build a readership large enough to carry this experiment of offering two languages. If you want to read the essay in English, you find it here:

A World-Historic Chance

The Right is freaking out because we could be on the brink of proving that egalitarian, pluralistic democracy is possible. A glass-half-full interpretation of our moment.

I think the worst part of this mealy mouthed shit take is that it goes on for two more posts afterwards. Stfu man! He helped terrorize people across this entire state via ICE! He cut our healthcare! I don’t give a fuck about his sense of humor! Fuck you!

What I’ll remember most about Senator Graham was his sense of humor and how he deployed it to move his policy positions forward. Though we did not often agree, Senator Graham was never disagreeable.

the fact that our elites cannot, ever, just call a thing what it is will be the death of this society. he was a vicious, antisocial scumbag. his crimes are literally legion. if the opposition can't vocalize that what good are they? and werent they trying to jail this loser? grow a pair
