Hawaiian does not equal something or anybody who comes from Hawaiʻi. Spam Musubi is not Hawaiian, Lau Lau is Hawaiian. I may be from Hawaiʻi, but that doesn't make me Hawaiian. It makes me a local from Hawaiʻi. Hawaiian = Native Hawaiian (Kānaka, Kānaka ʻōiwi, Kānaka maoli).

I find it interesting that pork products are so popular in Hawaiʻi and that the local Japanese community in particular, eats so much pork and spam. It's quite a contrast to the plantation days when the Japanese would condescendingly belittle Okinawans for their consumption of pork.

TW: Dead Snake Went to chase the sunset with a friend who was visiting. Stopped at a lovely beach, but unfortunately also came across a mangled sea creature. I think it was a sea snake or eel that got caught up in some sort of fishing tool. It was incredibly sad and frustrating to stumble across.

it's literally impossible for an LLM to do a historian's job it's not even LLMs sucking it's that they need data input to do anything and where's that data supposed to be coming from without historians never met a computer that can dig through a thousand year old book in a library

This is 18-mo-old Amalia waving to me when she was detained. She was hospitalized with a respiratory infection while at ICE’s Dilley facility for immigrant families. She’s one of dozens of detainees who I spoke to via video and phone calls, letters and an in-person visit. 🧵1/
