I've landed the last change needed to enable #WebGPU by default on Samsung devices with an Xclipse GPU (mobile RDNA)! Should be available in Chrome 153, which will be stable in September. These GPUs are most common in Europe, but there are some in other markets (like the Galaxy S25 FE in the US).

Had three hours to kill in a waiting room today, and to my delight that turned out to be *exactly* enough time to read through the first Murderbot Diaries book. I get why everyone likes these books now. This is quite possibly the most autistically-coded character of all time.

If I had a nickel for every time a villain from a Disney-adjacent movie plotted to build a freeway through the habitat of a group of non-humans, only to be revealed to be a member of that group in a human suit at the end of the movie, I'd have two nickels. But it's weird that it happened twice.

Hello? Yes, a moment of your time, if you please. I'm the Vampire Crawlers boss you've been fighting, and I'm not sure if you're aware of the fact that I've been dead for the last 10 minutes. Could you kindly wrap up this hand so I can explode in a shower of coins? It would be most appreciated.

When Jurassic Park came out I was Tim's age. I was obsessed. It was my favorite movie by a long shot, and Alan Grant was a superhero in my eyes. Now I'm Alan Grant's age, the movie is still one of my favorites, and I'm very sad that my childhood hero is gone. Thanks for the memories, Sam!

I think if you needed any more evidence that the cuts are shortsighted and focused on cutting as deep and as fast as possible with little regard for the future, this is pretty definitive. That engine felt like magic in some spots. A colossal waste of talent and resources.

THIS STUDIO MADE THE FAMOUS IDTECH ENGINE AND YOU'RE FORCING THEM TO USE FUCKING **UNREAL**??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? FUCK YOU

Just drove past a big friendly sign saying "We're temporarily closed!" In front of the rubble that was once a McDonald's. Not sure what this is a metaphor for, but it's a good one.

Renting a Mazda this week. It has Android Auto, but when the car is moving the touchscreen is unresponsive and you're forced to use a dial/joystick... thing in the center console to navigate. W. T. F??

Beat Mina the Hollower, but the game went pretty out of its way to let me know I got a "bad" ending. I have an idea of what it would take to get a good ending, but I'm pretty sure it would require a whole new playthrough and no thanks. It was fun, but I'm not itching for an immediate replay.

This is me! We're focusing on a few areas next month and I'm leading the "Paper cuts" area. So spam me with your bugs, please - and please file them yourselves first so I can triage them internally 😁

The Chrome DevTools team are doing a "papercuts" sprint where they try to address lots of small, irritating bugs and annoyances. Reply with crbug.com links (no bug, no fix—that's the deal!) and will see what we can do. No promises though as some may be features/too big/unclear how to solve.

See if you can spot the points in this video where management swoops in and says "Looks great, but how can we work in AI for buzzword-addicted investors?" And then leaves the artist cursing and spending the rest of their afternoon fixing the mess AI made.

epic’s concept art process video about their genAI integration is so HILARIOUSLY damning: youtu.be/ZR2xbcf3Xyw genAI keeps removing interesting details after every usage and at every step the VO says they need to ’add the details they want back in’ hahaha jfc

Look, I *like* strongly typed languages. But a days worth of scrubbing -Wsign-compare and -Wsign-conversion issues from a large codebase is quickly radicalizing me. Especially when there are major public APIs that are like: int get_foo(); void set_foo(size_t value); 🤬

"Game dev is one of those jobs you only do when you really want to. It's not going to make your parents proud, you're unlikely to get rich in an industry that lays off people for making superhits, and its a demanding & confrontative job. Why would you let a machine do the thing you're here to do?"

I spent the last few months talking to over 30 game developers about generative AI. It began as a sort of interview survey but became a pretty comprehensive collection of arguments against the technology altogether. www.gamesradar.com/games/why-so...

Beat Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. It's a fun game, and also one of the buggiest I've ever played. Difficulty curve felt all over the map. Plus the silly Ubisoft account requirements make it hard to recommend.

Behold my stupidest home automation to date. I am "gently encouraging" my children to be more aware of how much time they are spending in the bathroom by having a door sensor fire an IR blaster to start a sports timer when the door is closed, and stop it when the door opens again. 🤦
