I biked over to Powderhorn park for the Mayday parade, my first in quite a while. Here’s a few pictures…

Call the resistance “Massive Redaction.”
Trump is now adding his name to U.S. dollar bills, the first time a sitting president's signature will go on paper currency. Historically, paper currency carries the signatures of the treasury secretary and the treasurer.
It’s disgusting that Rep legislators like him don’t have an iota of humanity for the fact we saw our neighbors die, children ripped from families, racial profiling at bus stops, & people observing peacefully brutalized. it’s not about politics, it’s just the facts of suffering endured by a people.
Here’s GOP State Rep. Walter Hudson making fun of Minnesotans for being fearful of ICE, defending January 6th, and blaming Renee Good and Alex Pretti for “putting themselves in harms way.”
Quick Racket giveaway! We've got one extra ticket to the Tom Morello show at First Ave today. RT by 10 a.m. for a chance to win! The catch? The ticket is non-transferrable, so you'll have to meet Keith at the door around 11.
“At its best, America serves as a haven of individual liberties in a world too often full of tyranny and cruelty. We abandon that ideal when we subject our neighbors to fear and chaos. The court expects this Order will be complied with in all respects.”
I've written this blogpost on ICE protest chants & songs, w/ a large section of transcriptions of singing at protests by faith leaders and the Singing Resistance. It also includes songs about ICE agents' perceived masculinity issues and new songs protesting ICE. medium.com/@norikomanab...

today i wrote about how in the twin cities, the organized resistance to ICE is everywhere.
In the Twin Cities, ICE resistance goes mainstream • Minnesota Reformer
The week before an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good in south Minneapolis, her 67-year-old neighbor Terri Sullivan heard that a school in nearby Richfield that serves mostly Latino students needed ...

The US granted visas to Jews but only allowed 30,000 in from Germany a year. You had to wait for your number to come up. Meet Robert Smallbones. An unassuming British diplomat who 'hacked' this system so effectively (saving 48 THOUSAND Jews) the UK government kept his scheme secret for decades /1 🧵
Another element is that even Jews who scraped together the cash and documents to flee were often refused entry by ‘safe’ nations, including the USA and U.K. A lot of Americans are not eligible for foreign long term visas.
Interestingly, the best thing from last weekend's SNL is this clip that was cut for time and posted on a Tuesday night: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA8O...

I didn't write this for people in the Twin Cities. I wrote this to everyone else, my feeble attempt to try to be witness to the occupation of Minnesota and the chaos of every single day right now. open.substack.com/pub/wburdine...

This is a police state occupation and terror campaign that has nothing to do with immigration. I don’t see how courts haven’t already stepped in Minneapolis to stop this in the way they did in Chicago?
Trump's thugs are going hog wild and tossing gas around in one of the busiest commercial districts in Minneapolis, just a mile or so from where I live. Complete insanity. (vid via Ford Fischer on X)
We live in St Paul, Minnesota; TONIGHT reports coming from multiple sources that ICE is staging in our grocery store’s old parking lot, going door to door in adjacent neighborhoods weapons drawn. At this point the Civil War movie seems more reality, and current events are the fiction. SMH.
Locals! If you go out to eat tonight, Wrecktangle Pizza will donate a pizza to a family hiding from ICE.
From Wrecktangle Pizza 1/11/26: “TODAY ONLY, SUNDAY 1/11, email pizza@wrecktanglepizza.com a photo of your receipt fm ANY MINNESOTA RESTAURANT w/ the subject line “RECEIPT” & we’ll donate an additional meal on your behalf [to a family in hiding due to ICE].” Win/win: support restaurants & families.
Not an exaggeration at all to say that the feeling in Minneapolis is that the entire metro area is being treated as occupied territory by federal agents. Impossible to overstate how overwhelmingly people here do not like it. This does not feel sustainable.
Plus local politicians respond to the ICE killing of Renee Nicole Good and what you can do to help in today's Flyover news roundup.

I went to the protest in Highland Park, St. Paul. There was good crowd energy and signs including ’No Kings’ and ’The Vocal Minority Does Not Speak For Me.’ My wife is out of town, she was at a far larger one in Manhattan! Let’s do this again soon.
A lesson from Israel: Do it again next week.
"The rules governing the exercise of power in a representative democracy should not — must not — be Calvinball." The MNGOP illegally seizes power in the statehouse. It's part of a pattern. From MSNBC. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...
Minnesota voters elected a split state House. Republicans seized power anyway.
Even when Republicans have a lot of power, it often will not be enough,

Sometime in the 11th Century, viking mercenaries carved runes in the shoulder of this ancient Greek lion statue. It’s difficult to translate, but they say something like “We won and now we’re carving trash talk on your lion.” So at least some vikings knew what lions were. [5/9]
